ORIENTAL - Mrs. Joan H. Rawls, 72, formerly of Winston-Salem, died Thursday, 
June 22, 2000, at her home. 
She was born in Johnstown, Pa., graduated from Penn State University with 
a B.A. in education, and the University of Virginia with a M. Ed in special
education. She was a member of Oriental United Methodist Church and was an 
active volunteer with Hospice of Pamlico County. 
She is survived by her husband, Joseph B. Rawls; three children; five 
step-children; and 15 grandchildren. 
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at Oriental 
United Methodist Church. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Pamlico 
County, P.O. Box 959, Bayboro, NC 28515.
