Joeanna Hopkins Spain, 101, of Hobucken died Sunday, Jan. 1 at Britthaven 
of Pamlico.  
She was a member of Hobucken United Methodist Church.  
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Bryant Funeral Home 
Chapel, with the Rev. Lee Toler officiating.  
Burial will be in Barnett Cemetery in Hobucken.  
She is survived by a son, Ernest Spain of Chesapeake, Va.; a daughter, 
Nellie S. Hopkins of Hobucken; a sister, Lillian Sadler of Hobucken; three 
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great 
grandchildren.  
The family will receive friends following the service at Bryant Funeral Home.
