Joella Tarkenton DeFord, 94, died March 26, 1992, in her home.
Mrs. DeFord was born in Bayboro, N.C. She was a member of Fairmont Park 
United Methodist Church, Norfolk, and Westminster Chapter 99, Order of 
Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Robert H. DeFord; a stepdaughter, Virginia 
D. Maddrey of Virginia Beach; two sons, Edward L. Tarkenton of Largo, Fla.,
and Thomas Tarkenton of Charlotte, N.C.; a stepson, Robert DeFord Jr. of 
Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn 
Cemetery by the Rev. Edward M. Garrett, the Rev. Won Un and the Rev. 
Tom Maddrey. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today in 
Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel.
