John Rockefeller Beeman, Sr., 89, of Arapahoe, went to his eternal home 
Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at CarolinaEast Medical Center. A member of Bethany 
Christian Church, he served as a deacon, elder, and greeter. He served his 
nation in the United States Marine Corps during World War II as a deep-sea 
diver and an expert rifleman. He retired as a master carpenter and 
beekeeper. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Evelyn Ensley 
Beeman; two sons, John Beeman, Jr. and wife, Christine, of Arapahoe and 
Randy Beeman of Hope Mills; one daughter, Stephanie McGaha and husband, 
Bill, of Franklin; sister, Emma Hahn, of Mt. Savage, MD; brother, Calvin 
Beeman, of Warren, Ohio; two grandsons, Jeremy and Andy McGaha; one 
granddaughter, Meredith Beeman; and one great-granddaughter Avery Lynn 
McGaha. Also surviving are Guyan Ensley, brother-in-law, and wife, Jill, 
and Clara Jean “Jeanne” Ensley, sister-in-law. Services were held Friday, 
June 25 at Bethany Christian Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Merritt 
Watson officiating, interment at Greenleaf Memorial Park, New Bern. The 
family received friends Thursday, June 24 at Bryant Funeral Home in 
Alliance.
