BAYBORO - John A. "Jackie" Buck, Jr., 75, died September 10, 2008, at 
Craven Regional Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. Buck, Sr. and Mabel 
Brinson Buck; a brother, Joseph W. Buck; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Ray 
Caraway.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rachel Caraway Buck; one son, John 
A. Buck, III and wife, Carol Cahoon Buck; one daughter, Jackie Lee Buck 
Taylor, RN; six grandchildren, Dianna Pitts Lee, Cody Allen Buck, Hollie 
Kaye Taylor, Michaela Marie Buck, Petty Officer Second Class, Surface 
Warfare Office, Adam J. Potter of NAS Whidley Island, and Carrie Lane 
Potter; and four great-grandchildren, Summer Candace Lee, Jasmine Alanna 
Lee, Austin Holton and Faith Ann Price; three nephews, Joey Buck, Ashley 
Buck and Allen Buck; one niece, Kim Hodges; one great-nephew, Braxton 
Wallace Buck; and two great-nieces, Kaitlyn Hodges and Abbie Jo Hodges.
He owned and operated Hurricane Power Products and Hurricane Boatyard and 
Marina. He served in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Navy on the USS 
Princeton CV37 in the X Division Sky Forward Lookout and played the tuba 
in the ships' band during the Korean War. He was a member of Bayboro 
United Methodist Church, Craven Community Concert Band, and the Pamlico 
Community Band. He was a member of Rainbow Lodge #479, where he was a past 
master, New Bern Scottish Rite Bodies, Sudan Temple, and the Pamlico 
County Shrine Club where he was an original member of the Mourners.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008, at 
Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Baldwin and the Rev. Owen Lupton 
officiating.
The family will receive friends 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the 
funeral home.  Arrangements by Bryant Funeral Home and Cremations.
