VANDEMERE - John Alvin Midgette Gray, 50, died on Sunday, April 26, 2009, 
at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, May 2, 2009, at St. Peter 
Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lawrence Simmons officiating. 
Burial will be private.
He was a 1977 graduate of Pamlico County High School, where he played 
varsity basketball. He was a graduate of Bergen Community College in 
Hackensack, N.J., and a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his parents, Johnnie Squires of New York and Sarah 
Midgette Gray of New Bern; two brothers, Reynolds Gray and Calvin Squires; 
two sisters, Debra and Joyce Squires; and one grandparent.
