ORIENTAL - John Edward Hardy, Jr., 89, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at Craven
Regional Medical Center.  
He worked as a dock master for Barbour Boat Works and was a member of 
Oriental United Methodist Church and former member of Bethany Christian 
Church in Arapahoe.  
Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home 
Chapel with Rev. Walter Graves and Rev. Gary Edge officiating. The family 
will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday.  
Hardy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marion Williams Hardy; one son, 
John E. Hardy III and wife, Linda S. Hardy of Rocky Mount; one daughter, 
Christine Beeman and husband, John Beeman Jr. of Arapahoe; one brother, 
Randolph Hardy of New Smyrna Beach, FL; one sister, Marguerite Whorton of 
Ft. Myers Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Roger Wayne Hardy and Meredith 
Elaine Beeman; and several nieces and nephews.
