Obituary of Joseph Robert Hudnell ~ 2005

Joseph Robert Hudnell, 65, of Garner, N.C., died Saturday at Wake Medical 
Center after his battle with lung cancer.
Joe was a former resident of Oriental, N.C., and Atlantic Beach, N.C. He 
served as a member of the Perry Griffin Foundation and was a staff member 
at Pamlico County High School until his retirement in 2002. Joe had a 
passion for boating and was a licensed captain. He was a loving husband, 
brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.  
Joe was an active member of the Oriental United Methodist Church and most 
recently of Ann Street United Methodist Church in Beaufort, N.C. Because 
of his illness, he moved to Garner, N.C., earlier this year to be closer 
to his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.  
Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Mary Alice Dowdy; his 
son, Mark, of Ayden; his daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Gray Armstrong; 
his brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Lois Hudnell of West Melbourne, 
Fla.; and grandchildren, Summer, Joseph, Justin, Jenna, Sydney and Samantha; 
and great-grandson, Ryker.  
A memorial service has been set for Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at 2 p.m. 
at Oriental United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends after 
the service in the fellowship hall.
