Obituary of Joseph H Lupton ~ 2010

MERRITT - Joseph H. Lupton, of 4394 Florence Road, died Thursday, June 17, 
2010, at home.  
Born on Feb. 13, 1931, in Lowland, he was the son of Richard and Clara 
Sadler Lupton who pre-deceased him. He was also predeceased by his sister, 
Daris Lupton Keith.  
He spent his career of 40 years as a chief engineer on tugboats before his 
retirement in 1996. He was a member of Concord Christian Church, where he 
served as both a deacon and an elder. He attended both Concord Christian 
Church and Trent FWB Church.  
He is survived by his wife, Diane Williams Lupton; his son, Joseph H. 
Lupton Jr. and his wife, Tiffany Lewis Lupton, of Florence; and one 
granddaughter, Jordan Leigh Lupton of Florence. In addition he is survived 
by his sister, Kay Lupton Durden of Raleigh; his nephews and nieces, A. 
Ralph Keith Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Martha Keith Roof of Holly Springs, 
Mark Keith of Cary, Sharon Durden Fred of Raleigh, Lori Durden Wilson of 
Greensboro, and Carrie Durden Walls of Longview, Texas; six great-nieces; 
and four great-nephews.  
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Concord 
Christian Church with Dr. Robert B. Cayton and Dr. A. Graham Lane 
officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Memorial Gardens.  
The family will receive friends at the Concord Christian Church Fellowship 
Building immedi-ately after the services.
