Joseph Thomas, 63, of 1487 Hwy. 306 N, Grantsboro died Monday, Feb. 13, 
2012 at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
He was a native of Pamlico County and 1967 graduate of Pamlico Central 
School. He was an active member of Mt. Sinai M.B. Church serving as a 
choir member, Sunday School teacher and Trustee.
The service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at New Bern Eastern M.B. 
Association Headquarters with Bishop Melvin Walker, officiating. Burial 
with military honors will follow in Stonewall Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Deirdre Thomas of the home; two sons, Jamar 
Thomas of Oriental and Tony Midgette of Durham, N.C.; one daughter, Doris 
Rich, Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Pickett Thomas, Severn, Md., Charles 
Thomas, Stonewall, N.C. and George Grant Thomas of Reelsboro, N.C.; two 
sisters, Geraldine Thomas of Washington, D.C. and Carolyn Carter of Fort 
Washington, Md.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing hours at Oscar's 
Mortuary will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.
