Obituary of Joyce Hopkins Gregory ~ 2005

Mrs. Joyce Hopkins Gregory, 74, of New Bern, died Saturday, August 20, 
2005 at her residence.  
Mrs. Gregory lived in Vandemere and Key West, Florida before moving to New 
Bern in 1976. She was devoted to her family and her church. She loved the 
Lord and worshipped at Riverdale United Methodist church where she was 
very active.  A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 25, 2005 at 
2:00 pm at Pollock-Best Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Hayes 
officiating, assisted by the Reverend Fallon Melvin. 
Mrs. Gregory was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Douglas 
Robert Gregory, Sr.; her parents, Frank and Gladys Hopkins; and one sister,
Gloria Skinner.  
She is survived by one son, Douglas Gregory, Jr. and his wife, Jeanne of 
Key West, Florida; one daughter, Jan Gregory Moore and her husband, Robert 
Moore, III of Raleigh; one brother, Al Hopkins and his wife, Sonja of New 
Bern; one sister, Sandra Toler and her husband, Robert of Bridgeton; two 
step-grandsons, Vincent Bruner and Robby Moore; one step great-grandson, 
R.L. Moore, V; and was devoted to numerous loving nieces and nephews.  
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, one 
hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
