Obituary of Julian Webster Lupton Sr ~ 2007

Julian Webster Lupton Sr. of Pamlico went to be with the Lord on Nov. 22,
2007.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lois Willis Lupton, and
his parents, Joseph and Esther Lupton, also of Pamlico.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Sigmond and Vincent Lupton,
and sister, Jenny.
"Red," as he was called by friends and family, was born and lived most of
his life in Pamlico County, including Whortonsville, Pamlico, Oriental and
Arapahoe. He served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees in the South Pacific
during World War II. Afterward, he returned to Pamlico County, where he
met and married the love of his life, Lois Ellen. He supported her and
their four children by working as a commercial fisherman for more than 20
years. He fished as far south as Key West and as far north as Greenport,
Long Island, N.Y. Upon returning to his home of Pamlico County, he was
employed as a diesel mechanic for Texas Gulf in Aurora until his
retirement. He and Lois also owned and operated His & Hers Alterations in
New Bern until 2001. Lois managed the business, while "Red" spent many
enjoyable hours fishing, woodworking, gardening and cooking.
He is survived by his sister, Alice Rawls, of Reelsboro; his brother and
his wife, Everett and Virginia Lupton, of Pamlico.
He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and J.C. Cook,
of New Bern; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Jena Harrell Lupton,
of New Bern; and daughter Esther Lupton, who cared for him in his home.
He is also survived by his six grandsons, Reuben Phillips and wife Deborah
of Kinston, Patrick Phillips of Henderson, Frank Bacon of Grantsboro,
David Lupton Jr. of New Bern, Julian Lupton III and wife Nichole of
Wilmington and James Gregory "Greg" Lupton of Greensboro.
He leaves three granddaughters, Jolena and husband, Cliff Morrow, of New
Bern, Courtney Lupton of Raleigh and Amanda Ashby of Selma. His great-
grandchildren include: Laura and Sean Phillips of Kinston and McKayla
Morrow of New Bern. He has one great-great-grandchild, Danielle Ashby of
Selma, and numerous, beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m., to celebrate his life and the day
of his birth, at the United Methodist Church of Pamlico. His family would
like to invite friends and acquaintances to the visitation on Sunday from
3 to 5 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home in Alliance. In lieu of flowers, please
make donations to the United Methodist Church of Pamlico. Bryant Funeral
Home and Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
