Mr. Julius G. Dees Jr., 76, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, after a brief 
illness.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at 
Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel, 5926 West Friendly Ave. The Rev. John 
Mark Wiggers will officiate.
Mr. Dees was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Greensboro, and grew up in Pamlico 
County. He served his country in the U.S. Navy Air Corps, during World War 
II. He returned to Greensboro after receiving his law degree from 
UNC-Chapel Hill, in 1951, and enjoyed many happy years practicing law in 
Greensboro. He served as president of the Greensboro Bar Association from 
1978 to 1979. He retired from the law firm of Dees, Giles, Tedder, Tate, 
and Gaylord in 1999.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ellen Ireland Dees of the home; 
son, Julius G. Dees III and wife, Betty of Greenville; son, George R. Dees 
and wife, Carol of Gibsonville; daughter, Ellen D. Kendall and husband, 
Robert of Woodberry Forest, Va.; daughter, Margaret D. Flynt and husband, 
Keith of Forest, Va.; daughter, Janet L. Dees of Greensboro; 15 
grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Eula Walker and husband, 
Richard; sister, Joan Hansen and husband, Victor; brother, Franklin Dees 
and wife, Sharon; brother, Charles Dees and wife, Glenda; sister-in-law, 
Theresa Dees; and many dear friends, especially those with whom he worked 
and with whom he drank coffee.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Dees in 1998.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the 
funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be 
made to the United Way of Greater Greensboro, 1500 Yanceyville St., 
Greensboro, N.C. 27405.
