ARAPAHOE - Lawrence Boomer, 82, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Craven Regional
Medical Center.
A native of Arapahoe, he was a member of Small Chapel Christian Church and
served on the trustee board, deacon board and the senior choir. He was the
last member of the Arapahoe All Male Chorus. He was a World War II Navy
veteran, the former chief of the Arapahoe Fire Department and was employed
with Camp Seagull for 40 years.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Small Chapel Christian Church
with the Revs. Roderick Kornegay and Keith Boomer officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Small Chapel Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Love S. Boomer of the home; three sons, Danny
Boomer of Cove City, Lawrence Boomer Jr. of Shepherdstown, W.V., and Keith
Boomer of Reelsboro; two sisters, Emma Smith of Yonkers, N.Y., and Lydia
Gaddy of Greensboro; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Oscar's
Mortuary.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
