REELSBORO - Lawrence Jason Southerland, 66, of 680 Chair Road, died 
Monday, December 23 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Norman and Penny Evelyn 
Summerlin Southerland, and sisters and brother, Norma Jean Southerland 
Blalock, Eddie Nelson Southerland and Sandra Southerland Taylor.  
He is survived by his wife, Doris Ezzell Southerland; two daughters, 
Teresa Southerland Harris of New Bern and Paula Southerland Hardison 
and husband, David Lee Hardison of Reelsboro; four grandchildren and 
one great-grandchild, whom he loved dearly; Donald Jason Harris, Christen 
Nicole Lee and husband Justin, Courtney Lea Hardison, Brittany Paige 
Harris and Cameron Brooke Lee; five brothers, Wayland Southerland, 
Frederick Bruce Southerland, Shelter Douglas Southerland, Gregory Alan 
Southerland and Dexter Wayne Southerland, all of Mt. Olive; and two 
sisters, Winifred Southerland Bell and Elizabeth Southerland Knowles, 
both of Mt. Olive.  
A funeral service was held Friday, December 27, 2002, at 2:00 pm at Bryant 
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Roach and the Rev. Michael 
Oliver officiating. 
Burial was in Sandhill Cemetery in Reelsboro. The family received friends 
at Bryant Funeral Home from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday.
