ALLIANCE, N.C. - Mr. Leonard Edward “Footsie” Nobles, 74, died Saturday, 
July 21, 2007, at his home.
The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson 
Funeral Chapel at Vanceboro. Burial will be in Chapman’s United Methodist 
Church Cemetery.
Mr. Nobles, a native of Vanceboro, had resided in Pamlico County for the 
past 12 years. He served his country for eight years as a member of the 
U. S. Army. Over the years he had been employed as a tractor mechanic with 
Warren Brothers Equipment Company in Vanceboro, as a jailer with the Craven
County Sheriff’s Department, and as an auto mechanic with Nobles Garage. 
He was a member and former chief of the Vanceboro Volunteer Fire Department
and was a past member of the Vanceboro Rescue Squad.
He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Lizzie Mae Nobles, who died 
when he was a young child; his parents, Vernon and Lula Nobles; and a 
brother, William Clay Nobles.
He is survived by a daughter, Debra Banks and husband, Don, of Vanceboro; 
sons, Carl Nobles and wife, Lana, of New Bern, and Roy Lee Nobles and wife,
Christie, and Troy Nobles and wife, Sandra, all of Vanceboro; eight 
grandchildren, Spc. David Nobles of the U. S. Army, Joshua Nobles, Robbie 
Nobles, Donald Banks, Blake Nobles, Logan Nobles, Dillon Banks and Hunter 
Nobles; four step-grandchildren, Johnathan Toler, Amy Toler, Jonathan 
Fulcher and Joseph Sawyer; two great-step-grandchildren, Emily Foreman and 
Caleb Toler; and two brothers, Bobby Nobles and wife, Lucille, and Larry 
Nobles and wife, Denise, all of Virginia.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro 
Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the home of Roy and Christie 
Nobles, 1185 State Camp Road, Vanceboro.
