Obituary of Leroy Marrion Jones ~ 2008

Leroy Marrion Jones, 89, of 1128 G Street, New Bern, died Monday, Dec. 8, 
2008, at his residence.
He was a native of Oriental, He lived in New Bern for more than 60 years 
after his discharge from the United States Army. He retired from NADEP at 
Cherry Point as a plumber in 1988. His membership at Rue Chapel AME Church 
included serving as a former trustee and choir member and his community 
affilation included membership in The Men's Fellowship Chorus. 
The funeral will be held at noon, Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Rue Chapel 
AME Church with the Rev. L. K. Staten officiating. Burial will be in New 
Bern Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
He is survived by his wife, Eliza Joyner Jones of the home; five 
daughters, Phyllis Jones and Julia Jones of New Bern, Rosie Pearl Jones 
and Beverly Douglass, both of Philadelphia, Penn., and Doris Coleman of 
Goldsboro; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 11 
great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Oscar's Mortuary and at 
the church Saturday one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
