Obituary of Lessie Broughton Taylor ~ 1998

Lessie Broughton Taylor was born in Pamlico County. She is the daughter of 
Levy Davis and Sarah Dean Broughton. She graduated as the Salutatorian of 
the Class of 1931 from Arapahoe High School. During her residency in 
Pamlico County, she was a member of the Arapahoe Free Will Baptist Church. 
In March of 1935, she married Jarvis Taylor of Farmville. During the early 
years of their marriage they lived in Farmville, Arapahoe and Norfolk, VA.
In 1951, she and her family moved to Johnston County where they lived in 
Smithfield and Benson.
In 1955, they moved to Norfolk, VA, she was a member of the Hyde Park FWB 
Church during that time.
She and her husband retired in 1975 and moved to Zebulon, living on W. 
Sycamore Street for 21 years.
Two years ago, they moved to 325 W. 3rd Street in Wendell. She was a member
of the First FWB Church of Zebulon.
She is survived by her husband, Jarvis of 63 years. She has one son, Jimmy 
Taylor and his wife, Peggy of Knightdale, NC and one daughter, Hazel Fox 
and her husband, Ken of Young Harris, GA; seven grandchildren; three 
great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Lee of Union Grove, AL.
She was a devout Free Will Baptist, a lifelong Democrat, a Pamlico County 
original and proud of it.
Funeral service are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, at the Arapahoe 
FWB Church.
The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service in the church.
