Lionel Elbert Willis Sr., 81, of Grantsboro died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, 
at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
He was a member of Amity Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and 
trustee. He owned and operated Lionel Willis Grocery Store for 52 years. 
He also served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by two sons, Seth Willis and Shannon Willis, both of 
Grantsboro; two daughters, Janice Willis and Paula Banks, both of 
Grantsboro; one brother, George Willis of Grantsboro; one sister, Kathleen 
Koelliker of Robinson, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and two great-
grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at Amity 
Christian Church with the Rev. Lynn Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in 
the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following 
the service.
