Louis Eugene Marini, 87, of Arapahoe passed away Wednesday afternoon at

He was a graduate of Mount Union College and had a master's degree from
Vander Cook. For many years he was a high school band director in the

the Falcon Marching Band. In 2003, the university recognized his many
contributions by naming him Outstanding Professor and the homecoming
ceremonies were held in his honor. He also received the National Jazz
Educators Award in 1977. His passion for teaching has left a great legacy
in the lives of his students and many have gone on to significant careers
in the music industry.
During his retirement years in Pamlico County, he taught both publicly and
privately and was co-founder of the Al Louis Orchestra, which performed
many of his big-band arrangements at area functions such as the Croaker
Festival in Oriental.
