ORIENTAL - Lovie Saunders Smith, 91, 3896 Kershaw Road, died Sunday at 
Grantsbrook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  
She was a member of Holt's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church serving as musician 
and member of Gospel Voices. 
Her community involvement included membership in Bay Star Chapter No. 48 
OES and assisting community churches as a musician. She was employed in 
the seafood industry.  
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at New Bern Eastern 
M.B. Association Headquarters with the Rev. L. Shannon Sabsook officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ganus Cemetery, Arapahoe.  
She is survived by her two sons, Lenwood Ray Smith of Oriental and the 
Rev. Kenneth Smith of Grifton; one daughter, Hattie S. Davis of Oriental; 
one sister, Geraldine Aldridge of New Bern; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-
grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchild. 
The family will receive friends at the residence.
