Obituary of Lucy Bell Jones Gibbs ~ 2010

GRANTSBORO - Lucy Bell Jones Gibbs, 98, of 9342 N.C. 55, died Thursday, 
Dec. 9, 2010, at Britthaven of Pamlico.  
She was born in Oriental. Her employment years included serving as a 
minister's wife, homemaker and seafood processor. She was a member of 
Bethel M.B. Church and served as an usher, choir member, and mother of the 
church.  
Her funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the New Bern Eastern 
M.B. Association Headquarters, N.C. 306 North in Grantsboro, with the Rev. 
Victor Smith officiating and Frederick W. Fisher, eulogist. The interment
 will be held at the Bethel M.B. Church Cemetery.  
She is survived by her sons, James A. Gibbs Jr. of the home and Reggie 
Jenkins of Raleigh; daughters, Tiny Mattocks of Merritt, Bonnie Green of 
Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Barbara A. Thompson of New Bern; 20 grandchildren; 
and 37 great-grandchildren.  
The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing will be from 
9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Oscar's Mortuary and at the Association 
Headquarters one hour prior to the service.
