Mary Deal Carawan, 100, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Grantsbrook 
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  
She was a faithful member of the Maribel Church of God of Prophecy. She 
dearly loved the Lord, her family and her friends.  
She was preceded in death by her parents Annie and Irving Deal; her husband, 
William H. Carawan, Sr.; sister, Vera Smith; and grandson, Timmy Carawan. 
She is survived by two sons, Bill Carawan, Jr. and wife, Della of Burlington 
and Bobby Carawan and wife, Judy, of Grantsboro; grandson, Derek Carawan
(Ellen) of Raleigh; granddaughters, Kim Ferguson (Joe) of Orange Park, 
Florida, Dodie Boyles (Joe) of Graham, and Tammy Kell (Greg) of 
Strongsville, Ohio; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, James Deal (Lorie) of 
Greenville and sister, Ola Taylor of Winterville.   
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 
2011, at Bryant Funeral Home and Cremations and at other times at the home 
of Bobby Carawan, 1128 NC Hwy 306 S, Grantsboro, NC 28529.   
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home
with the Rev. Lee Toler officiating. Interment will follow immediately in 
Celestial Memorial Gardens.
