VANDEMERE - Mary Kennedy Martin, 83, died Saturday, July 19, 2003 at
Craven Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Goldsboro, NC on September 8, 1919, the daughter of Paul
Haywood and Sophia Crawford Hill.
Mrs. Martin was former postmaster in Vandemere and had worked with Barbour
Boat Works during World War II and Morton Motor Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her three husbands, Adolph D.
Kennedy, Herman G. Dixon and Robert S. Martin; one brother, Paul H. Hill,
Jr.; and her sisters, Edith Hill and Lois Pauline Edmundson.
She is survived by a sister, Madge H. King of Goldsboro; two sons, Donald
C. Kennedy and wife, Barbara of Raleigh, NC and Randolph D. Kennedy and
wife, Shirley of Olympia, NC; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
and four nephews. There are also four stepchildren, Robert and Jane
Martin, Jerry and Beth Herritage of Wilmington, Henry and Trudy Martin and
David and Nelia Martin of New Bern. A memorial service was held Saturday,
July 26 at 11:00 am at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Roach
officiating.
The family received friends immediately following the memorial service at
the funeral home.
