Mary L Wetherington, 75, of the 1000 block of Washington Drive, died Nov. 
27, 1996, in a local hospital.  
Mrs. Wetherington was born in Lowland, N.C., and was the daughter of the 
late Nathaniel G. and Salina Leary Leary. 
She was the treasurer of Pleasant Grove Community Church in Chesapeake, 
where her husband serves as pastor, and was a life member of the Auxiliary
Chapter No. 26, Disabled American Veterans.  
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. James W. Wetherington Sr.; three 
daughters, Louise Kosmicki of Virginia Beach, Shelby Noble of Elizabeth 
City, N.C., and Peggy Sumrall of Chesapeake; her son, James W. 
Wetherington Jr. of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.  
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Pleasant Grove Community 
Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. George Pierce. Burial will follow in 
Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Oman 
Funeral Home, Great Bridge, today from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions 
may be made to Pleasant Grove Community Church, 818 Waters Road, 
Chesapeake, Va. 23320.
