Obituary of Maxine L Hayes Smith ~ 2000

Our most precious and loving mother, Maxine L. Hayes Smith, 90, went to be 
with her Lord on Feb. 4, 2000. 
Born in Oriental, N.C., she was the widow of Charles Daughtry Hayes and 
James R. Smith. She was a Baptist by faith.  
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn H. and Ralph 
Everton of Norfolk, Ann H. and Tommy Smith of Chesapeake; a son, Charles 
S. Hayes of Norfolk; a sister, Shirley Baum of Virginia Beach; seven 
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 
and a daughter-in-law, Vina Lou Hayes of Virginia Beach. 
She was predeceased by a son, James W. Hayes; a daughter-in-law, Barbara 
T. Hayes; and a grandson, Stephen L. Hayes.  
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral 
Home, Great Bridge Chapel, by the Rev. Charles Snead. Burial will be in 
Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. 
today at the funeral home.
