ARANSAS PASS, Texas - Mickey Paul Carawan went to be with our Lord and 
Savior on December 17, 2011. He was born to Sulton Ray and Mary Jones 
Carawan on May 9, 1940, in Mesic, North Carolina.
He served 8 years in the U.S. Air Force with 1 year in Ubon, Thailand 
during the Vietnam War. He prided himself in his commercial shrimping 
abilities and the love of his fellow fisherman. He had fond memories of 
his North Carolina friends too numerous to name. He was a member of the 
First Baptist Church in Rockport, Texas.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Frances 
Rawls Carawan of Aransas Pass, Texas; two sons, Michael Carawan and his 
wife Stacy of Corpus Christi, Texas and Steven Carawan and his wife Teri 
of Greenwood, South Carolina; daughter, Debbie Hodges and husband Gregory 
of New Bern; grandchildren, Stacey and Melissa and their mother Shirley 
Carawan, Caden, Connor, Candace, Colton Carawan, Courtland and Jared Hodges, 
Meagan and Robert Wyman; brother, Douglas Carawan and wife Sammie of 
Aransas Pass, Texas; sister, Patricia Gocha and husband Bob of Tennessee; 
sister-in-law, Martha Campen and husband Floyd and two brother-in-laws, 
Preston Rawls and his wife Betty Ann, and Charles Rawls and his wife Mary 
of North Carolina; and special Boston Terrier companions, Tyrone and 
Geraldine.
Visitation was held from noon to 9 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2011, at the 
Charlie Marshall Funeral Home with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral 
service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the Charlie 
Marshall Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with full military honors will 
follow in the Prairie View Cemetery.

Inc., Aransas Pass, Texas.
