Miles Wade Ireland, 60, of Leland, formerly of Lowland, died Wednesday, 
April 23, 2008, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington.   
He was a tugboat captain with Express Marine for 35 years. He was a member 
of The Meeting Place Church.  
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Leland; son, Miles Wade Ireland Jr. 
of Aurora; daughter, Tammy Ireland Ganues of Grantsboro; stepdaughter, 
Kirsten Spurling of Wilmington; four brothers, Casper Ireland of Lowland, 
Jerry Ireland of Reelsboro, Danny Ireland of Lowland and Robbie Ireland of 
Engelhardt; one sister, Karen Stowe of Chocowinity; two grandchildren, 
David and James Cooper of Grantsboro; two stepgrandchildren, Ashley and 
April Spurling of Wilmington; and two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Cooper 
of Stonewall and Jaiden Cooper of Arapahoe.  Funeral services will be held 
at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Wardens Grove F.W.B. Church with the Rev. 
Earl Sadler and the Rev. Taffy Hopkins officiating. Interment to follow 
immediately in the Lowland Community Cemetery. 
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 26, at Bryant Funeral Home from 3 to 
5 p.m. and additional times at the home of Casper Ireland, Middle Prong 
Road, Lowland.
