Obituary of Milton W. Brinson ~ 2008

RALEIGH - Milton W. Brinson, 93, of Raleigh, died Sept. 11. 
He was the son of the late Robert T. Brinson and Leah Elizabeth Scott 
Brinson and brother of the late R.T. Brinson Jr.  Milton was born at 
Silverhill/Grantsboro in Pamlico County on June 15, 1915. After he 
graduated from Alliance High School in 1933, he attended and completed a 
business course at Kings Business College in Raleigh. He was employed by 
the J.C. Penney Company for eight years in Greenville and Wilson.
He was drafted during World War II on Feb. 7, 1942. He married Mildred 
Carson Phillips of Waynesville on Jan. 30, 1948 at Tyndall Air Force Base 
in Panama City, Fla.
He remained in military service (U.S. Air Force) for 25 years and retired 
as a lieutenant colonel on Nov. 1, 1966 at Langley Air Force Base in 
Hampton, Va. He and his family moved to Raleigh and, on Dec. 1, 1966, he 
became employed by the North Carolina Employment Security Commission, 
where he was employed for 20 years and retired Jan. 1, 1987. He then began 
to research and prepare his family history.
He was a member of Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, where 
he had served as a deacon and an elder. He is survived by his wife, 
Mildred Phillips Brinson; son, Robert Scott Brinson, and his wife, Martha 
Kuper Brinson, of the Green Level community; son, Jack Phillips Brinson, 
and his wife, Shirley Clay Brinson; and two grandchildren, David Graham 
Brinson and Rebecca Lorraine Brinson, all of Raleigh.
The memorial service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Hudson Memorial 
Presbyterian Church, with a reception immediately following in the church 
parlor. Arrangements are by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Millbrook Road.
