Obituary of Myrtle Benton Henry ~ 2010

ORIENTAL - Myrtle Benton Henry, 91, went home to her Lord on Wednesday, 
October 13, 2010. 
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oriental for 58 years. 
During that time she served her Saviour as a Sunday School teacher, BTU 
leader and Vacation Bible School director. After more than 20 years of 
service as a deacon she was proclaimed Deacon Emeritus for life.  
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lacy Carl Henry; her
eldest son, Carl Wayne Henry; and her youngest son, Lynne (Link) Duane 
Henry.  
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Benton Davis of Oriental; and two 
nephews, Linwood Stowe and Brian Dallas Stowe.  
She is survived by one son and three daughters. Lacy Meredith Henry and 
wife, Judy, of Atlantic Beach, Marilyn Henry Ragan and husband James, 
Linda Henry Hill and husband Kenneth, Paula Henry Brafford Miller and 
husband Ricky, all of Oriental, and Joy Pittman Henry, wife of Carl Henry, 
of Scottsdale, AZ.  
Her grandchildren by family are Carl and Joy Henry's children, Tracy and 
wife Trish, Craig and wife Regina, and Dawn Martin of California and 
Arizona. Lacy and Judy Henry's children are Wayne and wife Tina, Keith and 
wife Beth, Kenny and wife Ashley, Debbie and husband Curtis Gillikin, all 
of Atlantic Beach and Morehead City. Marilyn and James Ragan's children, 
Renee and husband, Eric Schrom, of Boiling Springs and James (Jamie) and 
wife, Penny, of Goldsboro. Linda and Kenneth Hill's children are Wendy and 
husband, Patrick Harvey, of Memphis, TN and Kenneth F. Hill Jr. of 
Oriental.  
Mrs. Henry was a proud great-grandmother of 23 great-grandchildren and two 
great-great-grandchildren.  
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 
the First Baptist Church of Oriental with the Rev. Jerry Harper and the 
Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. The family will receive visitors after the 
service at the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home of 
Jim and Marilyn Ragan, 3017 Sloop Drive, Oriental, NC. Her life proclaimed 
the beauty of Thy Peace.
