Norma B. Kasey, 80, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord and
reunited with her family Tuesday, April 17, 2007.
Norma was born in Arapahoe, N.C., on October 21, 1926, to Capt. Joseph
William Brinson and Rosa Willis Brinson.
Being the youngest of seven children, all the other kids wanted to give
her a name. So this is what they called her:
Norma Inez Darlene Rosalee Simaramus Hagarjane Persimmonseed Brinson.
Along with her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her husband of 52
years, Bob; two brothers, Theodore R. Brinson and Joseph William Brinson
Jr.; four sisters, Elma Patton, Nellie McManus, Gladys Harper, and Evelyn
Moore; and her nephew, Jody Brinson.
Surviving her is her only son, Robert M. Kasey and wife Kathy P. Kasey of
New Bern; grandchildren, William M. Kasey and Sarah B. Kasey of New Bern;
sisters-in-law, Dorcas Brinson of Arapahoe, and Jane Mansfield Bennett and
husband Terri Burgess of Bradenton; and numerous nieces and nephews that
love her very much.
Norma was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmama. She loved spending
time with her family and friends. After all her siblings had passed on,
she still remained connected with all her nieces and nephews who she loved
very much. Norma was a member of Highland Park Christian Church, Women of
the Moose and Pioneer Club and an avid bowler on the Wednesday Night
Ladies Bowling League. She retired from Carolina Telephone & Telegraph
after 43 years of service as an executive secretary.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Cotten
Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April
21, 2007, at Cotten Chapel with the Rev. Gary Edge officiating, followed
by burial at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
Arrangements by Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
