Obituary of Odessa Blango Hackney ~ 2008

ARAPAHOE - Odessa Blango Hackney, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at 
Britthaven of Pamlico.  
She was a member of Piney Grove Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 
where she was a mother of the church and a former choir member.  
Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Piney Grove 
Church of Christ Disciples of Christ with the Rev. Farries Slade 
officiating. Burial will be in Piney Grove Church cemetery.  
She is survived by four sons, George Hackney Sr., Robert Hackney and Jesse 
Hackney, all of Arapahoe, and Edward Hackney of Temple, Texas; two 
daughters, Jennette Nelson and Mary Alice Taylor, both of New Bern; one 
brother, James Blango of New Bern; one sister, Ruby Blango of Bayboro; 19 
grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.   
The family will receive friends at the home of George and Sarah Hackney, 
1088 Don Lee Road, Arapahoe.  
Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, at Oscar's Mortuary and one 
hour prior to the service at the church.
