Obituary of Ola Tingle Woodruff ~ 1989

NEWPORT NEWS - Ola Tingle Woodruff, 85, died Saturday, May 27, in Riverside
Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Woodruff was born in Alliance, N.C., and had been a Peninsula resident
for 16 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Swingin' Singers and the
church choir. Mrs. Woodruff was also a member and past matron of the Emera
Chapter No. 31 Order of Eastern Star and a member of the AARP.
Survivors include one son, James W. Woodruff of Richmond; one sister,
Bernie Woodsen of Tulsa, Okla.; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren;
and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church,
Newport News, by Dr. James E. White and the Rev. James Tingle III. Burial
will be at 2:30 p.m. in Alliance United Methodist Church Cemetery,
Alliance, N.C. A Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m. at Peninsula
Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the service until 8:30
p.m.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of
contributions to the Swingin' Singers, First Baptist Church, Newport News.
