Ray C. Jones, 84, of Blue Marlin Way, Nags Head passed away Sept. 26, 2010 
at his residence. 
A native of Pamlico County, he was the son of the late Amie Robert Jones
and Charlotte Whorton Jones and widower of Faye Hooper Jones. 
He is survived by a brother, Lee T. Jones and wife, Doris, of Elizabeth 
City; two sons, William E. Jones and wife, Marlene, of Kitty Hawk and 
Robert R. Jones of Nags Head; four grandchildren, Brian R. Jones, Krissi L.
Williams and husband, Jeff, Noah Aaron Jones, Hannah R. Jones; and four 
great grandchildren; and numerous members of the Sam & Omies family. Ray 
was a WWII veteran serving honorably in both the U. S. Army Air Corps and
 U. S. Coast Guard Reserve. After his discharge, he worked 36 years in 
civil service as an aviation mechanic for the U. S. Coast Guard. 
He was a charter member of VFW Post 6060 in Elizabeth City. An avid 
sportsman, he was active member of the Nags Head Surf Fishing Club. He 
also served as a past president of the Pasquotank Wildlife Club. Ray was 
a member of the City Road United Methodist Church in Elizabeth City. A 
celebration of life with military honors will held Wednesday Sept. 29, 
2010 at 2 p.m.. at the Gallop Funeral Services Chapel MP 16 Nags Head. 
Reverend Steve Seigrist will officiate. Following the service, the family
will receive friends at Sam & Omies. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was 
entrusted with arrangements.
