BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Rein Leonard Johnson Sr., 70, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010,
at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center.
He was born in the Cash Corner community of Pamlico County and was a member
of the 1958 Class of the Pamlico County Training School. He was employed
as a security guard for the Brooklyn Board of Education.
His funeral will be at noon Saturday at St. Peter M.B. Church, Vandemere,
with the Rev. F.L. Hyman officiating and the Rev. Tony Credle, eulogist.
The burial will be in the Mesic Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his three sons, Rein L. Johnson Jr. of Upper Marlboro,
Md., Kelvin Johnson of New Bern and Paul Johnson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one
daughter, Jacqueline Johnson Davis of Bayboro; three sisters, Loretta
Jones of Mesic, Inez Latham of Grantsboro and Diane Hodges of Brooklyn,
N.Y.; two brothers, Douglas Pearsall of Maribel and Cletus Sawyer of New
Bern; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at Oscar's Mortuary and at the
church one hour prior to the service.
