BAYBORO - Richard Modie Ollison, Jr., 81, of 116 Tingle Ave. Bayboro, died
on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern.
He retired from Civil Service at USMC Cherry Point after 36½ years as a
supply clerk. He was also employed for many years with Cowell Cleaners.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Murphy Olllison of the home; one son,
Romalus Ollison of New Castle, Del.; six daughters, Shanita Ollison of
Cary, Del Gibbs of Fayetteville, Ellen Deborah Hawkins and Juanita Powell
both of New Bern, Karen Gibbs and Lisa Guion both of Raleigh; two
stepchildren, William Murphy and Ernestine Williams both of New Bern; 14
grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two
brothers, Julius Ollison and Joe "JW" Ollison, both of Mesic; three
sisters, Mary Smith and Charity Jones, both of Mesic, and Lula Belle
Garris of Pasadina, Md.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the church one hour
prior to the service.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the
Greenhill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Bell, Pastor,
officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church
cemetery.
Arrangements are by Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, Inc., New Bern.
