Obituary of Robert Ellis Meekins Sr ~ 2011

STONEWALL - Robert Ellis Meekins Sr., loving father and grandfather, 
passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at his home at the age of 81. Mr. 
Meekins was a top-notch boat mechanic and one of the first to have the 
opportunity to ride along during offshore powerboat racing. He was also a 
Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army.  
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Meekins Boyer and two 
sons, Richard Allen Meekins and David Bryan Meekins.  
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, at Pollock-Best Funeral Chapel 
with burial to follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.  
He is survived by his son, Robert Meekins Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; his 
daughter, Annette M. Turner of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Lawrence 
Meekins of Bridgeton and Albert Meekins of Utah; one sister, Ellen Hinson 
of Rocky Mount; special companion, Carol Arthur; eight grandchildren, 
Laura Turner, Danielle Turner, Mary Moen, Crystal Meekins, Jennifer 
Stallings, Kimberly Langlois, Kristina Odum and Emily Meekins; and ten 
great grandchildren, Jamie Lee Shaw, Levi Turner Griffis, Joseph Meekins, 
Presley Stallings, Chase Moen, Aubrey Moen, Ethan Langlois, Devin Langlois,
Kristian Thomas and Kaleigh Odum.  
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening, at the 
funeral home.
