Obituary of Roger Alexander Johnson Sr ~ 2005

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - Roger Alexander Johnson Sr., 53, of 471 Wally Ave., 
died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Yale New Haven Hospital.  
He was a native of Oriental and a 1969 graduate of Pamlico Central High 
School and a retiree of Afco Lycoming Corp., New Haven, Conn.  
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pilgrim Chapel Missionary Baptist 
Church in Oriental with the Rev. Larry B. Faison officiating.  
Burial will be in Odd Fellow Cemetery in Oriental.  
He is survived by his widow, Rose S. Johnson of the home; three sons, 
Roosevelt Taft, Alfonzo Taft and Roger Alexander Johnson Jr., all of New 
Haven, Conn.; four daughters, Stephanie M. Sparks, Michelle Taft, Angelina 
Lesane and Tomeeka Johnson, all of New Haven, Conn.; four brothers, 
Jackie Johnson of Oriental, Christopher Johnson of Fayetteville and Lee 
Ernest Johnson and William Johnson Jr. of Hamden, Conn.; four sisters, 
Theresa Johnson of Oriental, Mary Wiley of Austin, Texas, Detra Wright 
of Macon, Ga. and Leatrice Burney of Oriental, and 11 grandchildren. 
The family will receive friends at the family home, 1439 Silverbrook Road 
in Oriental.  
Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Oscar's Mortuary and one 
hour prior to the service at the church.
