Rufus Edwin Brinson Jr., 50, of 1363 Neuse Road, New Bern, died Friday, 
June 6, 2008, at Craven Regional Medical Center.
He was a member of New Hope Christian Church. He attended Vandemere 
Methodist Church. He was the director of occupational health and emergency 
services in the division of continuing education at Pamlico Community 
College. He was a member of the N.C. Society of Fire Services Instructors 
as well as a member of the Arapahoe Masonic Lodge #479.
He is survived by his mother, Hazel Lee Brinson; wife, Anna Brinson; 
stepson, Peter Lozica Jr. and wife, Dana, of Morehead City; stepdaughter, 
Laura Persky and husband, Adam, of Reelsboro; three nephews, James White 
IV of Vanceboro, Jerry White of Iraq, Jason White and wife, Shelby, and 
daughter, Caroline, of Oklahoma; sister, Nancy White and husband, Jim, of 
New Bern; and two stepgrandchildren, Samantha and Kimberly Persky.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Pamlico County 
High School with the Rev. Mike Roach and the Rev. Seth Jones officiating. 
Interment to follow immediately in Sandhill Cemetery. The family will 
receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home and 
other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorial contributions be made to
the N.C. Fallen Firefighters Foundation, 2501 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 150, 
Raleigh, N.C. 27607, Pamlico County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 302, Bayboro, 
N.C. 28515, or Pamlico County Fireman's Association, P.O. Box 693, Bayboro,
N.C. 28515.
