Obituary of Ruth Dunn Avery ~ 2007

Ruth Dunn Avery, 91, of New Bern went to be with the Lord Nov. 22, 2007, 
at Craven Regional Medical Center.  Ruth was born Aug. 24, 1916, in the 
Olympia community of Pamlico County, the daughter of Sallie Holton Dunn 
and Coy Dunn. She was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and 
taught Sunday School for over 35 years. She is preceded in death by her 
husband of 61 years, Eric. And by a granddaughter and a great-grandson.  
She is survived by her three sons, Wesley Avery and wife, Debbie, of 
Columbia, S.C., Ernest Avery and wife, Betty, of Waynesboro, Va., and 
Ronnie Avery and wife, Pat, of New Bern; eight grandsons, one 
granddaughter, seven great-grandsons, five great-granddaughters, one 
great-great-granddaughter and one great-great-grandson. She is also 
survived by one brother, Ernest C. Dunn of New Bern, and many nieces and 
nephews.  Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 at Cotten 
Chapel. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive 
friends one hour prior to the service at Cotten.
