ORIENTAL - Samuel "Sammy" Lee Green, 77, of 702 George St., died Sunday,
Sept. 14, 2008, at Craven Regional Medical Center.
He was a steward and usher at Pierce's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and was
formerly employed as a commercial fisherman and at Georgia Pacific.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Pierce Chapel A.M.E.
Zion Church with Rev. James Cannon officiating.
Burial with be at Styron Town Cemetery with military honors.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Cooper Green of the home; three sons,
Michael T. Green of Durham, Cedric Green of Chocowinity and Anthony Green
of Oriental; six daughters, Minnie Rodgers of Oriental, Diane Covington of
Durham, Carolyn Summers of Frederick, Va., Pamela Green of Merritt,
Felicia Harper of Durham and Angela Lee Green of Oriental; one brother,
Thomas Green of Oriental; five sisters, Parthnia Coleman, Esther Bryant,
Victoria Green, and Thelma Green, all of Oriental and Annie Cooper of
Florence; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Oscar's Mortuary
and at the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
