ARAPAHOE - Sanford E. Long, 74, of 10524 N.C. 306 South, died Monday, June 
25, 2007, at his home.  
Mr. Long had been a commercial fisherman, and was a member of Arapahoe 
F.W.B. Church and Disabled American Veterans.  
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Arapahoe F.W.B. 
Church with the Rev. Tommy Bulla officiating.  
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church 
and other times at his residence.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Alice Long; four 
brothers, James, Vernon, Jesse and Jack Long; and a sister, Beatrice 
Lovick.  
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn B. “Ginny” Long; son, Sgt. 1st Class 
Sanford E. Long Jr., and wife, Cindy, of Ft. Wainwright, Alaska; daughter, 
Melissa L. Harper of the home; two sisters, Myrtle Howland and Dorothy 
Mitchell, both of Morehead City; and three grandchildren, C.J., Matthew 
and Nicholas. He was greatly loved and will also be missed by many nieces, 
nephews, cousins and many special friends.
