Obituary of Sarah Alice Harris ~ 2011

GRANTSBORO - Sarah Alice Harris, 77, passed away Thursday, December 22, 
2011, at Grantsbrook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  
She was a member of Amity Christian Church and retired as an educator in 
Pamlico County. She was an active member of Pamlico Arts Council as well 
as Delta Kappa Gamma where she was a past president. She also served as a 
commissioner for the Town of Grantsboro. She was an avid supporter of the 
Pamlico County Historical Association. She donated land for Grantsboro 
Town Hall, Chamber of Commerce and the Pamlico County Historical 
Association.  She was dearly loved by her family and was preceded in death 
by her parents, Everett J. and Gladys Banks Harris.  
She is survived by five cousins, Myron C. Banks and wife, Nancy, of 
Raleigh, Mary Elizabeth Brinson and husband, George, of Arapahoe, Gloria 
Barrington and husband, Jay, of New Bern, Jeannette Hudson and husband, 
Dr. Richard Hudson, of Bayboro, and Myron Banks Jr. and wife, Pam, of New 
Bern.  
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, at Bryant 
Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow 
immediately in Grantsboro cemetery.  
The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service
at the funeral home.
