ORIENTAL - Sherwood Lee Harris, 79, of 1637 Pamlico Road, died Wednesday,
Aug. 30, 2006, at his home.
He was a member of Pamlico United Methodist Church, was a World War II
veteran, was retired from the Navy and was the recipient of the Bronze
Star and Purple Heart after the Normandy invasion.
Memorial will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pamlico United Methodist Church with
the Rev. Joe Parker officiating. He was preceded in death by his mother,
Lola Harris; one son, Sherwood L. Harris, Jr.; and one brother, Fredrick
Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Harris; one son, Larry Harris of
Oriental; two daughters, Sheryl Sanders and husband Don of Florence and
Karen Deaton and husband John of Oriental; one brother, Tillman Harris and
wife Ruth of Bridgeton; one sister, Martha Venters and husband A.T. of
Ayden; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the service at the home in
Pamlico, 1637 Pamlico Road, Oriental.
