ARAPAHOE - Shirley Davis Jones, 70, of 418 JoJane Road, died Tuesday, July 
22 at Craven Regional Medical Center. 
A funeral service was held Saturday, July 26, 1 pm, at Zion Hill United 
Church of Christ with the Rev. James Ingram, pastor officiating. Burial 
was in Jones Cemetery.  
She was a member of Zion Hill United Church of Christ and was formerly 
employed by Sound Packing Company.  
She is survived by two sons, Wallace Jones, Jr. of Greenville and Regis 
Jones of Rocky Mount; three daughters, Dydria Jones, Shirelene Strayhorn, 
both of New Bern, and Diane Jones of the home; two brothers, Luke Davis of 
Corona, NY and Johnny Davis of Merritt; two sisters, Nancy D. Avery of 
Bayboro and Campin D. Merritt of Philadelphia, PA; 21 grandchildren; and 
one great-grandchild.
