Sibyl Holton Smith, 89, of Olympia Road in New Bern, died Saturday, July 
12, 2008, at home.
She was a member of Broad Creek Christian Church and the Olympia Volunteer 
Fire Department Auxiliary. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark T. Smith; son, Thomas "T.H." 
Hugh Smith; grandson, John Daniel Jenkins; and great-grandson, Gary Thomas 
III.
She is survived by her son, Terry Smith of New Bern; four daughters, Lala 
Smith Thomas, Glenda Smith, Janice Smith Martin and Brenda Smith Bennett, 
all of New Bern; one brother, Henry Shelton Holton of New Bern; 12 
grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 14 at Bryant Funeral 
Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Gabbert officiating. Interment will follow 
immediately in Holton Cemetery in Olympia. The family will receive friends 
one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to:
