Teddy Vaughn Fodrey, 56, of Pittman Circle, Oriental, N.C., died Friday,
July 1, 2005.
Due to construction on the First Baptist Church in Oriental, funeral
services will be held at the Oriental Free Will Baptist Church 11 a.m.
Monday. Reverend Murray Etheridge of the Oriental First Baptist Church and
Reverend Harry Bryan of the Croatan Free Will Baptist Church will be
officiating.
Ted was a native of Pamlico County. Born September 13, 1948, in Mesic, N.C.,
he was the son of the late Desbor Ray Fodrey and Ruby Dowdy Fodrey. Ted
was also predeceased in death by his brother, Ray Francis Fodrey and
sister, Paulette Fodrey Stephenson. During his teen years, he worked as
a commercial fisherman with his brother-in-law, Harold L. Stephenson. He
graduated from the Pamlico County school system and served in the United
States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1974. Ted was
employed by PCS Phosphate as an instrument mechanic and was medically
retired in 1996. Ted was a much loved member of the Oriental community
for over 50 years. He taught Sunday School in several of the area churches
and was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Oriental.
Ted was a loving father, husband and uncle and was a devoted friend to many.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Michelle McKee Fodrey; their two
daughters, Mary McKee "Kee" Fodrey and Sarah Wilson Fodrey of Pamlico
County; his daughter, Melissa Fodrey Watson and husband Chris Watson; and
grandson, Parker of Ayden, N.C.
He is also survived by his three nieces and their families: Donna
Stephenson Johnson and husband Jimmy Johnson and their children, Hunter,
Brinkley and Archer of Washington, N.C.; Darla Stephenson Prescott and
husband Tim Prescott and their children Taylor, Blaine and Jordan of
Williamston, N.C.; Lori Fodrey Williams and husband Tim Williams and their
daughter Haley of New Bern, N.C.; his mother-in-law, Winona Wilson McKee
of Selma, Alabama; and an extended family of cousins and in-laws
throughout the United States.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bryant Funeral Home in
Alliance and other times at the home, 102 Pittman Circle, Oriental.
