ORIENTAL - Theodore "Sonny Boy" Roosevelt Smith, 79, of 1301 N.C. 55 East, 
died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at his residence.  
He was a graduate of the 1949 class of Pamlico County Training School. 
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and was a member of the 
American Legion Post No. 238. He was employed by Garland Fulcher Seafood 
and captain of the Johnny Boy.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. 
Saturday at Pilgrim Chapel M.B. Church, Oriental, with Demetrius Williams 
officiating and the Rev. Victor Smith, eulogist. The burial will be in the 
Odd Fellow Cemetery with military honors.  
He is survived by his wife, Emma Louise Brown Smith of the home; three 
sons, the Rev. Victor Smith of Grantsboro, and Terry Smith and Tyrone 
Smith, both of Oriental; four daughters, Sandra Smith of Oriental, 
Evangeline Radford of Adelphi, Md., Freda Hargett of Oriental and Karen 
Moore of Aurora; 12 grand-children; and 11 great-grandchildren.  
The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing will be from 9 
to 7 p.m. Friday, at Oscar's Mortuary, Inc.
