NEW BERN - Vicie Quidley Soyars, 99, died peacefully Monday, October 24, 
2011, at Bayview Nursing Home.  
She was born September 5, 1912 to Thomas D. Quidley and Lorena Rawls 
Quidley of Pamlico. 
Her husband, Alvis Soyars preceded her in death on July 11, 1952. In 
addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by brothers, 
Dallas, Oscar, and Thomas and a sister, Virginia Q. Brown.  
She was a member of OES for sixty years where she served as a past worth 
matron. 
She has been a mother figure to her nine nieces and nephews, Dallas 
Quidley Jr. (Sadie), Elton M. Quidley (Pam), Billy Quidley, deceased 
(Verna), Lorena Q. Leonard (Lloyd), Jack R. Quidley (Alice), Frances Q. 
Phillips (James), the Rev. Fred S. Quidley (Patsy), Thomas G. Quidley Jr., 
deceased (Gail) and William Hugh Brown, Jr. (Linda). 
She is also survived by her step-sister, Irene T. Muse and a special 
friend she called her daughter, Annette Helms.  
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 28, at Bryant 
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Betty Jo Rodgers officiating.  
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the 
funeral home as well as immediately following the service at the funeral 
home.
