Obituary of Wilbur A. "W.A." Crumpler ~ 2010

NEW BERN - Wilbur A. "W.A." Crumpler, 80, of New Bern, died Friday morning,
Feb. 12, 2010, with his loving family by his side. W.A. was born Jan. 28,
1930, in Roseboro, N.C., to William A. Crumpler and Betty Fisher Crumpler.
After serving his county in the U.S. Air Force in the 809th Air Police
Squadron, W.A. entered UNC at Chapel Hill, where he received a bachelor's
of science degree in Pharmacy. He came to New Bern in 1959 to work at
Pinnix Drug Store. He owned and operated Pinnix Drug Store from 1963 until
1993, where he made many lifelong friends. After the sale of Pinnix, he
continued to work as a pharmacist with Medical Arts. He was an active
member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for about 50 years, where he sang in
the choir and several quartets and also served as a deacon.
He further served his community as a member and president of the New Bern
Lion's Club, as a member of the New Bern Board of Education and the
Craven County Board of Health.
He is preceded in death by his noted parents and his brother, Earl H.
Crumpler Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Faircloth Crumpler, of 55 years;
daughters, Andra Leigh Crumpler Fabian and her husband Mark of Indian
Trail, N.C., and Gwen Crumpler Walston of New Bern; and two granddaughters,
Anna Walston and Caroline Fabian.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday night, Feb. 14,
2010, at Cotten Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, Feb. 15, 2010,
at Tabernacle Baptist Church at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Scott Gleason, and the
burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
